The 1968 Topps Hockey set marked the dawn of a new hobby era.

Prior to the release of this fantastic issue, Topps had almost exclusively printed and marketed their hockey sets in Canada.

The 1968 Topps Hockey set consists of 132 cards from only twelve teams! The cards represent players from each NHL team, including the six expansion teams excluded the previous season, and were grouped according to team: The cards are grouped by team: Boston Bruins (#s 1-11), Chicago Black Hawks (#s 12-22), Detroit Red Wings (#s 23-33), Los Angeles Kings (#s 34-44), Minnesota North Stars (#s 45-55), Montreal Canadiens (#s 56-66), New York Rangers (#s 67-77), Oakland Seals (#s 78-88), Philadelphia Flyers (#s 89-99), Pittsburgh Penguins (#s 100-110), St. Louis Blues (#s 111-120) and Toronto Maple Leafs (#s 122-132). Each white-bordered card featured a posed color likeness with a bright and colorfully drawn backdrop illustrating a hockey scene; a rectangular area at the bottom of each card was reserved for his name, position and team affiliation, while the team logo appeared at the upper corner. The back of the card features a brief biography plus a hockey fact. This set is anchored by Bobby Orr (#2), Bobby Hull (#16), Gordie Howe (#29) and Terry Sawchuk (#34), and the rookie card of Bernie Parent (#89). The cards of Don Awrey (#3) and Skip Krake (#43) are error cards, with each bearing the other player’s likeness.
